Job Training Support and Follow-up Services

Based on the needs of the employer and worker, Chinook Enterprises Employment Services Staff will provide training and follow-up services to enhance the employment experience and maximize success. These services are tailored to each situation and individual.

Training Support may include:

One-on-One Job Coaching
This service provides the maximum support possible. The employee is supported in his tasks by a job trainer who is available to instruct the individual in the specific tasks of the job and ensure that the quality and speed requirements for the position can be met. This is a fairly intensive process at first, and then support levels decrease as the job is learned.

Accommodation Development and Implementation
Chinook Enterprises Employment Services Staff are experienced in developing tools and techniques to allow individuals with varying degrees of skills to complete the essential functions of their jobs. Such accommodations are often minor and are implemented with the cooperation of the employer in the most cost-effective method possible. Often these "accommodations" make the jobs easier for anyone who may do them!

Coworker Support Development
Essential to long-term employment success for anyone is the existence of a supportive work environment. Chinook Enterprises Employment Services Staff will work with your business and train your staff on how to support workers in the most effective way to create a respectful, positive coworker relationship. Teaching coworkers and building upon existing environmental supports increases the individual's independence and success on the job. In many cases, the supports people need are minimal and can be done within the normal course of the workflow. Something as simple as having someone remind the worker of break times and end of shift may be all that is needed.

Follow-up Services
Once the employee is successfully working independently, Chinook Enterprises Employment Services Staff ensures continued success by staying in contact with the employer on any needs that might arise. Chinook staff is available to facilitate solutions by providing retraining as necessary, evaluation of performance and continued identification of accommodation needs. This service is tailored to the individual needs of both the worker and the employer.

Follow-up is key! We provide assistance after an applicant is hired and recommend changes to optimize success. These services really create a positive work experience for the employee with a disability and the employer to maximize productivity.
